Irene Muthoni Kibandi
University Librarian - St Paul's University
Has served as a Librarian in various categories of libraries for the last 35 years.
About 30 of these in academic institutions, 3 as head of the Kenya National
Library Service and 2 teaching in LIS schools.
Experience
Irene consults for Local and International NGOs and Regional bodies on library
matters and promotion of reading. She is a Peer Reviewer for the Commission
for University Education currently handling evaluation of ODEL schools.
While Director of KNLS, she led the institution through ISO cretification and
automation of the main library.
She is a mentor to young library professionals in the African region- two cohorts
through the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions
(AFLIA), KLISC and other organisations.
Research Areas
Irene has undertaken several research project alone and some in collaboration
with other professional. Enthusiastic about emerging technology and libraries
and Open Access resources.

Chair of the SCECSAL XXVI Local Organising Committee.
