Mary Wanjiku

Head of Research & Consultancy - Kenya National Library Service (KNLS)

Mary brings over 30 years of invaluable experience in library services to her role at Kenya National Library Service (KNLS). Having held various positions across different departments, including the Nairobi Area Library and the National Library Division, Mary’s journey culminated in her tenure as the librarian in Charge of KNLS Kibera branch until September 2022.

Experience

Recognized for her expertise, Mary was subsequently appointed to head the Research and Consultancy Department at KNLS headquarters. Her extensive experience in the field, coupled with a passion for community development, has seen her spearhead projects aimed at transforming livelihoods within Kibera and beyond.
An advocate for capacity building and digital literacy, Mary champions initiatives that empower youths and bridge the digital divide. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs, she has implemented projects in schools within Kibera, fostering academic excellence and nurturing the potential of young minds. Mary’s dedication to leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for social good has earned her recognition as a trailblazer in her field.
As an international trainer, she shares her wealth of knowledge with professionals worldwide, contributing to the advancement of library services on a global scale

Mary holds a Master’s Degree in Information Science from Moi University, cementing her commitment to excellence and continuous learning in her profession. With her unwavering dedication to community development and passion for knowledge dissemination, Mary stands as a beacon of inspiration within both institutional and communal spheres.
